What’s in a word? A lot as you’ll soon find out, but for all intents and purposes, let’s focus on a very important word that you’ve probably never heard of before. How do I know this? Because I invented the word, Blackgevity.
Blackgevity is a combination of two words. Black and Longevity. Here’s how Webster’s dictionary defines them both. Black (blak) – of or relating to any of various population groups having dark pigmentation of the skin. Longevity (län-‘je-va-tE) – 1 a : a long duration of individual life b : length of life.
So now that you know what it means, it’s time to dig a little deeper to know what it can mean to you as a Black person.
I want you to know up front that I am not a doctor, physician or any other type of medical practitioner, nor do I profess to be a wellness-guru (you know the ones that you see on late-night cable television). In fact there are, thousands of people who have achieved more success than I have.
Ten years ago, I was probably in a similar situation as many of you are right now. Like most men (regardless of race) I hated to go to doctors. I’m sure you can relate to going to see your doctor for whatever reason, sitting in the waiting room for about an hour or so, and then when you finally get in the room you’re done in about 5 – 10 minutes. Or is it just me?
Well, after repeating the above scenario a few times over the years I started to ask myself questions like, Am I really THAT sick, that I need to go in and waste a couple of hours sitting in a germ infested waiting room? Or here’s another question that really got my mind racing, Why is it that whenever I take medicine, I end up feeling worse in most cases?
The conversations that I had with myself usually ended up at the same conclusion. Perhaps it was best if I learned how to listen to, and understand my body and mind. Get in tune with myself so that I could avoid (if necessary) even having to see or speak with a healthcare professional.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not knocking the medical profession, it’s just that for my own personal sanity I decided that, there has to be a better way. Maybe you’re at that point in your life as well, and if you are I urge you to keep searching. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Having gone through that mental process of elimination, within a very short period of intense research & interviews – Blackgevity was started. Over the last 10 years I have personally helped dozens of people get the answers to their health and wellness questions and start on the road to living longer and feeling stronger.
